How this data was produced
Every track in the catalogue was analysed automatically from its master audio file in April 2026. The analysis extracts tempo in beats per minute, key and mode, the numerator of the time signature, and detects the presence of vocals.
These are machine measurements, not hand transcription. Two limits are known for music written to picture: a cue that changes tempo or key partway through is described only by its dominant value, and a piece with no clear pulse gets a meaningless tempo. Modal keys are folded into the nearest major or minor.
No track was dropped after the fact, including where the result surprised me. The 285 tracks analysed are the 285 tracks in the catalogue.
